Portfolio > A town garden design
Existing site:
The client's kitchen opened onto utilitarian concrete slabs with a view, across a lawn, of the garage wall.
Client brief:
To create seating areas for both morning and evening use, and to improve the outlook by obscuring the garage wall.
Design solution:
A pergola was erected against the garage to act as a walkway and support decorative climbing plants. A new terrace was laid outside the kitchen and a geometric arrangement of flower beds introduced to fill the space between the terrace and the pergola. Raised beds surround the existing Bay tree and a new Sumach tree. A semi-circular thyme carpet was also planned.
The clients are planting the garden themselves to a scheme devised by Louise Hardwick. Landscaping was done by Richard Brereton.
