Existing garden:
The garden had a terrace of Marshall's clay pavers outside the sitting room doors. This led on to a sloping lawn surrounded by flower beds.
Client brief:
The terrace was to be extended and the rest of the garden was to be made more interesting with areas for herbaceous planting and vegetables.
Design solution:
A matching circle of Marshalls pavers was used to extend the terrace and a curved pergola was built around this to give height, allow some additional planting and to improve the privacy of the terrace. Raised vegetable beds have now been completed on the far side of the pergola and the borders around the lawn have been re-shaped and re-planted. Within a year or two the new pavers will have weathered to be indistinguishable from the old ones.
