Portfolio > A garden design for a Georgian house
This handsome Georgian farmhouse was being extended and the existing garden was mostly lawn with planted borders around the edges.
The initial phase of the garden design was to make a large terraced area suitable for family life and evening entertaining and to establish the new garden boundaries and planting areas near to the house.
A new brick wall and Box hedge will separate the garden from the driveway and utility areas. An arched gateway will give access to the garden, leading to paths between raised beds made of old brick and filled with easy-maintenance herbs and shrubs. There is an entertaining area immediately outside the new kitchen and the symmetry of the layout in front of the original part of the house reflects the architecture of the building.
